Pumpkin has many health benefits for a dog’s digestive health. For the past years, I’ve been consistent incorporating pumpkin into SUGAR’s diet. The 90% water content of pumpkin definitely helped improve SUGAR’s hydration.
Since it’s pumpkin season, I enjoy roasting pumpkin and making an easy dog safe pumpkin puree. I prefer giving SUGAR homemade pumpkin puree than canned pumpkin.
Homemade Pumpkin Puree vs Canned Pumpkin
For canned pumpkin, I use Nummy Tum-Tum made with 100% pure organic pumpkin.
Can you tell the difference between homemade pumpkin puree and canned pumpkin?
COLOR: Homemade pumpkin puree is lighter than the canned pumpkin.
TEXTURE: Canned pumpkin is thicker than homemade pumpkin puree. From Nummy Tum-Yum website, the different texture is due to the growing seasons of pumpkins.
Which one is the best?
TASTE: SUGAR loves both. I tasted it too. I find that the canned pumpkin has a ‘sweeter’ taste maybe because it’s made with organic pumpkin.
Do you give your dog canned pumpkin or do you make your own pumpkin puree?
