Did you know today, June 25th is the halfway mark to Christmas?
Time to think of Holiday presents.
Many people actually start shopping … I guess this is how Christmas in June starts.
Well, we would like to share a Paw Craft: Sausage Pillow Case (You’ll find out later why it is called “sausage” – it’s not because it’s yummy.) A pillow case is a great present. It can be used both by humans and pets. Many who can not afford dog beds use a regular pillow as their pet’s bed. Also, some pet owners allow their pets to sleep on their bed. A pet themed pillow case is a cheerful accent on their bed.
Pet lovers enjoy pet related items. A pillow case is a popular one.
Instructions: Sausage Pillow Case
(There are numerous ways on how to sew a pillow case.
You can check the web. We like this method and here’s our tutorial version. Enjoy!)
(Take Note: For larger Image, Click on the Photo)
1) Materials: Fabrics for the Body, Header and Accent.
See Photo below for the sizes.
2) Fold the Accent fabric in half lengthwise, wrong side together and press it.
3) Lay the Body fabric side-up. Place folded Accent fabric. Place Header fabric side down. Match the raw edges. Pin it together. See Photo below
4) Open/Flip the Header fabric. Roll the Body fabric up so it is just barely to the top. Take the Header fabric and pull it down around and tuck it under. Place it on top, meeting the raw edges. Pin it together and sew 1/4 seam allowance.

5) The FUN part. This is the reason WHY it is called Sausage Pillow.
After you sewed the layers, take the inner fabrics and pull it out. It will be wrinkly, so you may want to iron it. See Photo below.
6) See Photo below. WALA! Front and Back sides.
7) Put wrong sides together and match it up.
Sew 1/4 seam allowance along the side and bottom.
After sewing, you may trim fabric edges closer to the stitches.

8) Turn it over. Press it and sew 1/4 seam allowance. See Photo below. It will be PRETTY because all the stitches are hidden. The process of stitch is called French Seamed. (very interesting name but not exactly sure WHY?)
9) WALA! Turn it over and place your pillow inside. Take Note: You may use any fabric combination for this project. This project fits a regular size pillow with lots of extra room.
10) ENJOY!
We plan to give this as a present to our friend who LOVE CATS.
We will not wait till Christmas because today is her Birthday.
I just have to try it … for photo purposes only.
What do you think?
This sewing project is great for beginners, give it a try.
