We were at the beach.
My peeps brought gears for snorkeling.
There are only two basic gears for snorkeling, a mask and fins.
A rash guard is worn especially if the water is cold.
Snorkeling is a very popular water activity here in Hawaii.
Snorkeling is easy to learn. Once learned, it can be relaxing and a very rewarding water activity. There are numerous interesting things you can see underwater.
Since I got here (7 months ago), I’ve been swimming and diving underwater to retrieve my toy.
I’ve been fortunate to swim with some fish, click here to check my previous post.
I don’t think I need gears particularly fins.
My 4 Golden legs/paws are sufficient for underwater swimming, no need for fins.
Why fins are needed for snorkeling?
Fins aren’t mandatory for snorkeling, but it is useful. Fins can help you get down more quickly so that you can see more of the underwater world on that breath of air.
Using fins is a matter of comfort. It is important to wear the proper size. A larger size fins allow someone to swim somewhat faster but it requires more human “horsepower” to operate. Also, larger fins can also be heavier which makes someone clumsier in the water and can cause damage to the underwater environment.
I am not fond of gears.
I decide to just walk along the beach with my toy.
If you plan to visit Maui, Hi, snorkeling is ‘a must’ water activity.
On our future post(s) we will share our favorite spots where to snorkel in Maui.
