Fred, Sugar’s Furry Friend

If you are a follower of my blog, you know that Fred is a chipmunk.
We first shared Fred on our “Sunsataional Weekend: Chipmunk vs Squirrel” post.

Fred is a real chipmunk that has been visiting me since 2009. Fred sits on the patio ledge every morning.Its been my morning routine (after having my breakfast) to sit by the patio door to say hello to Fred. He makes lots of squeaky noises once he sits on the patio.

When I was away last year (I lived in HI), I was thinking I would never saw him again.
The first thing I did when I moved back to my home was to look for Fred.
I did not see him for days but Golden Happy when he appeared on the patio.
I shared it on my May 13th Reuniting With Fred post.

Many have asked us …How did we come up with the name FRED?
Every time Fred shows up, mom says there’s your “friend” chipmunk.
Yes, the name Fred was derived from the word Friend.

From this poem …

Fred, the chipmunk.
My furry backyard friend.
He makes squeaky chirpy blend.
Love to chase him but
he moves so quick.
Fred can run so slick.
Fred digs a hole
for his winter home.
Collects nuts and berries
to keep for his winter sleep.

… my mom was inspired to write a book, Sugar’s Furry Friend.

Sugar’s Furry Friend was published 10/23/11. Mom self published it and it was available in print (for a limited time). Sugar’s Furry Friend is geared for young children ages 3-6 years old (early readers) The illustrations in the book are based on my backyard photos taken by mom. We’ve sold out of the limited prints and recently did small reprints. Last May 13, 2013, Sugar’s Furry Friend was converted as an ebook available on Amazon Kindle.

Reuniting With My Furry Friend + Another Giveaway

It was exactly a week ago when my Furry Friend showed up.
It was a beautiful morning and I was listening to the birds tweeting. Then all of a sudden my Furry Friend, FRED, jumped out of the bushes and settled on his favorite spot on the patio ledge.
For about 5 minute, we had our moment … we were just staring at each other.
Then, we played chase . My Furry Friend, Fred, have not changed. Fred moves so fast and quick.

As always I had a PAWsome time playing with Furry Friend, Fred.
He did not show up for a couple of days but he made an appearance again last Thursday.
It was a special day for us and Golden Happy to see Fred. WHY?
It’s the 1st day of mom’s book, Sugar’s Furry Friend published as an ebook in Amazon.
Mom wrote and published in print Sugar’s Furry Friend last October 2011.
The story is based on my friendship adventure with my Furry Friend, Fred.
She’s been working hard for the past weeks converting her book to an ebook.
Definitely, it’s been an exciting learning experience for her.

Mending From Digestive Regrets In Search For My Furry Friend

It happens every Spring when the grass comes alive and I’m finding unusual stuff on the ground. Well, I have a great excuse this year. I did not have a chance to experience Spring last year as I lived in HI, where it’s summer weather at all time. I’m just super Golden happy and excited to be home. I did miss my backyard and been busy scouting my yard for my Furry Friend, FRED. In my search for Fred, I end up finding these little round pellets from my other backyard friend that hops around my yard. As I sniff the little round pellets it looks just like my kibble, I can’t help but to eat it along with some green grass. I did not eat a lot and/or indulge in them but I have a very sensitive stomach. Did I have some regrets? Absolutely! Digestive Regrets!

For the past weeks, we read many articles and blog posts about other dogs having issues with bunny poops in their backyard. What is with the bunny poops that fascinates dogs to eat it? Based on our readings, dogs don’t think it’s poop. Well, as I said it looks like my food kibbles.
Smell and taste of bunny poops are intriguing to dogs. Why?
A bunny eats leaves, twigs and barks which contains some protein and flavor.

Mending Digestive Regrets: Sugar The Golden Retriever

It surely disgusts my mom and at the same time very worried that will cause me to have Coccidiosis, intestinal parasites. So it is important for your vet to check your dog’s stool couple of times in a year. For days I’ve been banned from my backyard as mom did a bunny poop patrol and our gardener Mark apply some nutrients on our yard. This weekend, I was allowed back to be in my backyard with supervision. I am Golden Happy to report that I am finally mending from my digestive regrets.

At Backyard Patio: Sugar The Golden Retriever

My backyard bunny is a seasonal friend and it’s no longer visiting my yard. I made a Golden Promise to mom that I’ll be a good dog in the backyard … will occupy most of my time searching for My Furry Friend. Now that the bunny is gone, I hope to see Fred soon. With my good behavior this weekend, mom surprised me with a delish tasty treat. I invite you to check my post tomorrow, Tasty Tuesday. I was in Golden Awww on what she made me.

Looking For My Furry Friend + Surprise Giveaway

It’s been almost 4 weeks since I got back to my home.
I’ve looked for My Furry Friend, FRED, everywhere in my backyard
but he is nowhere to be found.
For those of you who don’t know Fred, he is a chipmunk.
He the inspiration of this poem …
Fred, the chipmunk.
My furry backyard friend.
Makes squeaky chirpy blend.
Love to chase him but
he moves so quick.
Fred can run so slick.
Fred digs a hole
for his winter home.
Collects nuts and berries
to keep for his winter sleep.

He is also the inspiration of Sugar’s Furry Friend book written by mom.
NO FRED!

By now, he should be around.
I know the weather has been odd lately and might have confused FRED.

I’ve been sitting where Fred usually sits.
Hoping my scent helps out to let him know I’m back.

Every day, I keep on Woof! Woof! to my mom to let me out as I just want to hang out on the patio. She finally decided to leave the sliding door open … and let me decide to come in when I’m done searching for Fred.

I do admit that I’ve been mischievous each time I go out on the patio.
I’m just simply searching for My Furry Friend, Fred.
One reason mom decided to place my bed by the sliding door overlooking the patio.
Keeping an eye on Fred’s appearance.
