I helped mom harvest some Lemon Bay Tomatoes and Basil we planted last Spring.

Mom made 2 Italian dishes. She said they don’t look pretty in black n white.
In regards to food photos, mom says they look better in color.
She believes that “people eat first with their eyes.”
The “visual sensation of a dish is just as important as its flavor.”
I can assure you mom’s dishes look pretty and delicious too.

Is Tomato safe for dogs to eat?

Tomato plants are toxic to dogs. If ingested by a dog, the solanine present in the tomato plant can cause hyper-salivation, lack of appetite, severe gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, drowsiness, behavioral change, weakness, dilated pupils, and slow heart rate. You have to call your vet immediately.
Unripe or green tomatoes are very dangerous for dogs too as it contain poison called glycoalkaloid. Dogs can not break down glycoalkaloid. The common symptoms will be diarrhea, vomiting, depression, muscle weakness, and difficulty breathing. Unfortunately in some cases, might cause death. As the tomatoes ripen, the glycoalkaloid rate is gradually decreased to trace amounts. Thus, ripe tomatoes are safe for dogs (in careful moderation).
