It’s that time of the year, October 31st Halloween.
It’s a fun event for many humans but it can be stressful and scary for some dogs.
Do you plan to take your dog Trick or Treating?
If you do, make sure your dog’s safety takes precedence.
5 Safety Tips: Taking Your Dog Trick or Treating
1) Keep an eye on your dog. Pay attention to your dog’s behavior and temperament at all times.
2) Halloween candies are hazardous to your dog. Chocolate is extremely toxic. Watch out for any candy droppings on the ground.
3) Dressing up in costume is fun but don’t force it if your dog resists.
4) Have your dog on a leash at all times. Be sure that your dog is wearing an identification tag.
5) Have FUN and Be Safe
If I were to go trick or treating, I will bring my favorite chew Kong toy …
a Golden Hint, I want a DELISH Tasty Treat inside my Kong.

Great tips Sugar! Holidays often present different challenges to keeping our dogs safe, so it’s always good to have reminders of things to be mindful of and look out for!
Thanks so much Sugar! Always a good idea to practice safety!! For the most part, we wish that peeps would leave their pups at home so their wouldn’t be any danger involved. xo Chloe and LadyBug
Those are some very good tips, Sugar!

HI Y’all!
Oh…I’ve never been trick or treatin’ or seen anyone trick or treating. My Human says we’re too rural for trick or treats. She said it was that way where she grew up too.
Y’all come by now,

Thanks for the tips Sugar. Folks need to remember to keep an eye on their dogs with all that chocolate around!
Our mom puts me in the stroller so I stay safe. all the little kids love to come see me tho.

Great tips Sugar! Can I add the trick mama uses for Halloween and even when there’s people at the house. She puts the handle part of my leash under the coffee table leg which is heavy enough I can’t move it and hooks it to my collar. This way I can still join the fun but can’t get out the door especially when everyone is too busy to notice.
great tips Sugar! I would never take Dakota trick or treating but if I did these are great!
Hey Sugar…I hope your howl-o-ween is filled with things as sweet as you!
hugs madi your bfff
Super GREAT ideas, Sugar! I keep trying to get my mom to take me Trick or Treating but she says it would be weird since we don’t have a human puppy. I don’t know why that would be weird, do you?

Momma sits out on the front porch with us. We wear our costumes, and all the neighborhood kids come by to admire us. Momma gives them candy in appreciation for their petting us so sweetly. It’s a grreat night! So what’s trick-or-treating?
Great tips Sugar and let us hope everyone stays safe and has a good time. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
Great tips, Sugar! Hope everyone stays safe!
Great advice, Sugar! I hope you get some GOLDEN delicious treats inside your Kong!

Thank you for the tips Sugar. I’ve never been Trick or Treating and treats are just my golden favourite… but I hate scary things, loud noises. I shall spend the evening in my basket dozing BOL!
Very important tips Sugar! Now if only we could figure out how to get the doorbell to stop ringing.
PeeS: When is your mom’s stair climb? Hope she does great!
No trick or treating for us…way to scary out there in the dark with all those mini humans running around looking scary, and Bailie would most likely find the wrong things to eat on the ground.
Great advice Sugar!
Great tips Sugar!! We will keep our dogs inside on Halloween and we keep them gated away from the door. It’s just so much easier that way!
Great tips Sugar…Our neighborhood is not Trick or Treat friendly so we’ll be passing on it but I know some dogs will have a good time
Mom changed her mind and we get to pass out candy tomorrow! YAY! Our post tomorrow will give you a hint as to why.
Your Pals,

good tips for keeping dogs safe on Halloween. We don’t go out but even when my kids were little I always left the dogs at home
Thanks for posting!
Mom won’t taken me Trick or Treating. She said it’s not safe so she bought me special treats for Thursday.
Great tips Sugar. Shiner will be at home on Halloween night, but I can see her trying to sneak some of the kids’ candies!
Great tips — everyone should read! 🙂
None of my dogs — the ones my family had when I was a kid or my own — have ever gone trick-or-treating. My Mom didn’t believe in dressing up the dogs in costumes — probably where I got it from, ya think? LOL — in fact, she didn’t believe in treating them as anything other than as dogs. BUT they were well-loved, well-behaved, and just as much a part of the family as my brother and I were. They were Mom’s canine children, but not spoiled rotten or spoken to in baby talk. When I see the extremes to which people go these days in dressing up their pets for Christmas, Easter, and Halloween it makes me cringe. And I can well imagine the look on my Mom’s face if she were to see those very same things.
great advice and pictures as always.
