Did you know there’s mold on Fall leaves?
My allergy flared up due to leaf mold. Leaf molds feed on dead leaves. We had so much rain last week and many of the leaves on the ground stayed wet which means breeding for mold.
Even though I wear Pawz boots my left front and back leg suffered irritation.
My vet visit for a weight check included an additional Skin Scraping test.
Due to my age, my mom opt for a steroid spray instead of an oral medication. My skin irritation is doing well. I was ordered to avoid stepping on grass/leaves/sand. Mmmm stepping on grass will be a bit difficult. My mom says I will be needing extra supervision when I do my doggy business.
If your dog suffers from allergies, make sure to wipe his/her paws and legs after being outside.

SUGAR
Aww, sweet Sugar we hope your allergy is better. Our woofie sister, Chi-Chi is allergic, too. Mommy is always wiping her legs and feet.
Hope you have a great Monday! XOXO
Hmm, that’s interesting Sugar. I never knew that about leaves. I guess I’m lucky in that I’ve never had a dog with allergies to anything. Hope you manage to keep the mould off your feet 🙂
I don’t think I knew that Sugar but it does make sense. Good advice about wiping the paws after going outside!
We sure are glad to hear that you are feeling better Sugar! Anybody with allergies has to be very careful! xo Chloe and LadyBug
Hope that your allergies aren’t too bad!
poor sweet sugar, so sorry your allergies are kicking…
Wow. Can mom cut the arms off old sweaters and make leg warmers for you, to protect your skin?
We know all about allergies Sugar. Our Little Bit gets two shots every month for many, many allergies. We too take all the precautions that your mom does.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom. 🙂
Allergies are just plain awful, I’m sorry you have to deal with them but I’m glad you have some meds to help out. I never would have thought about leaf mold to be honest.
Oh noes Sugar, I didn’t know that at all. Hope the irritation clears up soon xx
Guess it’s a good thing most leaves here are long gone, and our furbabies don’t seem to have issues with allergies.
Well thank you …Mr Reilly has been scratching like crazy and we couldn’t think why as normally winter is his good time……but we have had warm and cold days – perfect for mold to grow……we will be checking if this is what is causing his itchies too
Oh Sugar….I’m so sorry your allergies acted up again. Ma always keeps little wet wipes by the front door so she can wipe my paws after our walks. The pollen gets stuck in my furs and then I have an allergy and get itchy paws. The wipes definitely help a lot.
I hope you feel better.

Sending healing vibes and POTP.
Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Roooo Sugar you poor thing – hope you’re feeling better now. I will share this post on my pinterest page so my doggie friends can learn about autumn leaves and allergies too.
Oh Sugar I don’t have a lot of leaves here but I have been extra itchy
Hope all our itchies go away

Sugar and your Mom have you heard about Goo? I think you should try it out for Sugar’s allergies. My Mom just ordered for me my name is Sandi-Joy and I’m a 9 yr.old Golden and allergic to lots of stuff.Just wondered if you had tried this out yet.I’ll let you know how it works for me.Thought maybe you could touch base with the nice people at goo and they may send it to you.Does Sugar like peanut butter? That is what it tastes like.
I say, let it snow! That will cover up any ground problems you are having. Bummer you are so sensitive to stuff like that, no fun I’m sure!
Oh Sugar, you poor girl…feel better. Being itchy is no fun at all.
Hugs,
June
We’re sorry to hear that Sugar and hope you get over the allergies soon! We’re sending purrs!
You look so sad at vet. You will be healed up in no time.
Boy, I didn’t know that. Luckily we don’t have an overabundance of fallen leaves here. I hope you feel better soon, Sugar!
Feel better sugar!!
Aw Sugar, so sorry about the irritations! That’s good to know about the mold .
Those darn leaves. Hope you are better Sugar!
Also acorns Sugar. When the acorns fall they sometimes crack and the mold spores are released. Most people think Spring is a bad for seasonal allergies but Fall is just as difficult.
I hope the steroid helps you feel better!!
I had no idea that leaves could be the culprit. Earlier this year we had a lot of trees that were dead or dying removed from our property which reduced the amount of fallen leaves drastically and I wonder if this is why Rodrigo doesn’t have the trouble outside that he did last fall.
Thanks for the information.
What a beautiful dog, and thanks for the enlightenment about leaves. Now I understand why my dogs get eczema when they go for walks on the beach as well.
Oh Sugar so sorry about the allergies! I know how you feel but mine haven’t been too bad since it got cold. Happy Thanksgiving see you Sunday! Love Dolly
