A veterinary hospital accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) hold themselves to a higher standard. They strive always to deliver excellent care. Is your veterinary hospital AAHA accredited?
What is AAHA? Why AAHA accreditation matters?
To be accredited by American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), it means that the veterinary hospital has been evaluated on approximately 900 standards of veterinary excellence; such as safety protocols, equipment, veterinary knowledge, and other vital areas of pet health care. To maintain an AAHA accreditation, a veterinary hospital undergoes a rigorous re-evaluation by veterinary experts every three years. AAHA wants to ensure their practice continues to deliver excellent care.
Since it is not required by law, not all veterinary hospitals aim for an AAHA accreditation. Nearly 60% of pet owners believe their veterinary hospital is accredited when it is not. Only 15% of veterinary hospitals in the United States and Canada are accredited by AAHA. An AAHA accredited veterinary hospitals are recognized among the finest in the industry and are Champions for Excellent Care.
Veterinary Hospital AAHA Accredited | Pets Deserve Nothing Less
When we moved to California, I made sure that SUGAR continues to get an excellent veterinary care. It was not hard to find another AAHA veterinary hospital in Southern California. I used the AAHA Accredited Hospital Locator. When we visited Newport Harbor Animal Hospital (NHAH), the staffs and doctors welcomed us warmly. We decided in an instant that NHAH is going to be our new veterinary care provider.
During SUGAR’s last two senior years, she had the best loving vet care at Newport Harbor Animal Hospital.

SUGAR lived a long healthy happy life; fifteen years, seven months and six days. Golden Thanks to her AAHA accredited vets, Terry Animal Hospital – Wilmette, IL and Newport Harbor Animal Hospital – Costa Mesa, CA
Recently, Newport Harbor Animal Hospital (NHAH) celebrated their 70th year. We were invited to be part of the celebration. KORU BEAR did a pawsome job educating pet parents why an AAHA accredited NHAH provides excellent care.

July 22nd is AAHA Accredited Hospital Day! I am part of the 62% of pet owners who share the importance of finding an accredited veterinary hospital. An AAHA veterinary hospital is passionate about pets, and keeping them healthy is their number one priority. I am a grateful and proud dog mom to have an AAHA accredited vet. KORU BEAR deserves nothing less, keeping him in good health is my number one priority, and I know NHAH will provide him an excellent care.
An AAHA Accredited Veterinary Hospital is a Champion for Excellent Care!
Is your veterinary hospital AAHA accredited?
Yes mine, is…and I love all the vets and staff!
Hugs madi and mom
Ours is also! In fact, they received their accreditation earlier this year. Our vets and the staff worked very hard to earn their accreditation – and continue to do so – and I’m very proud of them. Dr. Steve has been our vet for many years now, and I trust him implicitly. He loves my girls – the furry angels included – and I know he has their best interests at heart.
You’re lucky you have no trouble finding AAHA accredited Vets where you live. I don’t have any close by so I would need to travel a lot further to visit one. I really like all the standards they have in place though, I wish some of the Vet’s closer to us would get accredited. I love Sugar’s AAHA bow tie, it’s so adorable! Such a beautiful Angel.
