We know the CBD world can often be hard to navigate, especially when it comes to shopping for your furry loved ones. When your pet’s health is weighing heavy on your mind, it can often be difficult to select what would be the very best for their overall wellness as well as support their specific health needs. Don’t worry, Pet Releaf is here to help you navigate CBD for pets! We’re breaking down how CBD can be beneficial to add to your pet’s daily regimen and how to choose the perfect product for your dog or cat.

cbd dog chews and hemp oilThis post is written and sponsored by Pet Releaf. I am being compensated to promote Pet Releaf’s CBD Dog Chews and Hemp Oils, but Golden Woofs only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers.

How does CBD oil work?

Every mammal, including us humans and our pets have an endocannabinoid system (ECS). When CBD is consumed, the ECS is then activated. When activated, it creates a 2-way communication system between the brain and other systems in your pet’s body, such as the nervous, cardiovascular, digestive, and more. Once the brain can communicate with the other areas of the body, it may help their body function at optimum levels of health!

Pet Releaf: CBD benefit your pet

How can CBD benefit your pet?

Since the endocannabinoid system can create a communication system between the brain and other systems in the body, CBD has the potential of helping out in a multitude of areas in your pet’s anatomy.

1. Situational Stress
Whether your furry friend hates being left alone or they’re not a fan of loud noises from fireworks or thunderstorms, CBD may be a great all-natural alternative to promote calmness in your dog. Pet Releaf recommends administering your pet’s recommended usage amount (this amount is based on your pet’s weight and is listed on all of our products) about an hour or so before a stressful event, so the CBD has time to take effect. Pet Releaf’s CBD Calming Edibites with Peanut Butter & Carob flavor contain key ingredients like baobab and chamomile that may help promote relaxation and calmness in your dog!

2. Hip and Joint Discomfort
If you have a dog that is starting the aging process or a pup that experiences joint stiffness after a long day of hiking, CBD can be a great daily supplement. Try administering your pet’s daily recommended usage amount if you start to notice them experiencing discomfort in their hips or joints to help them feel more at ease. Pet Releaf CBD Hip & Joint Edibites with Peanut Butter & Banana flavor integrate ingredients like glucosamine, chondroitin, and noni that may support mobility as well as hip and joint discomfort.

3. Digestive Health
Watching your dogs feel uncomfortable is never fun, especially when they’re experiencing an upset tummy. CBD can also be a great way to settle your dog’s occasional gastric distress to help them feel more comfortable. Pet Releaf CBD Digestive Health Edibites with Sweet Potato Pie flavor incorporate valuable ingredients like ginger and marshmallow root that may help support a healthy digestive tract!

4. Overall Wellness
If you’re on the search for pet products for a lifetime, then supplementing Pet Releaf CBD products should definitely be #1 on your list. CBD can be a great way to support a healthy immune system in your pet, which makes it perfect for supplementing through every stage of your pet’s life. Pet Releaf CBD Immunity Boost Edibites with Blueberry & Cranberry flavor incorporate ingredients like blueberry and cranberry that may support antioxidant function in your dog’s body.

Is CBD safe for your pet?

There are many CBD products on the market, but Pet Releaf is confident to say that their products are the number one, most trusted and safest. Pet Releaf control their entire manufacturing process, from seed to sale, from plant to pet. From Pet Releaf USDA Certified Organic Hemp Farm to their Supercritical CO2 extraction facility, they are there every step of the way. They also have extensive 3rd party lab testing to ensure the potency and safety of our products.

5 Differences: Canned or Homemade Dog Pumpkin Puree

October 20, 2020
5 Comments

As a remedy and maintenance, I incorporate pumpkin puree into my dog’s diet. For the past years, I’ve used both canned and homemade dog pumpkin puree. Which one is better? With the help of KORU BEAR, we did a comparison test and discovered five differences in color, texture, taste, preparation, and cost.

canned or homemade dog pumpkin puree

Pumpkin and Dogs

Fall season means pumpkin time. One of our favorite Fall adventures is to visit a dog friendly pumpkin patch.

Did you know? California is one of the top pumpkin-producing states. Pumpkins are 90 percent water. For more interesting facts about pumpkin, read our post; 15 Pumpkin Fun Facts | 8 Pumpkin Dog Treats (FUN memories with our Angel SUGAR)

Giving your dog pumpkin provides nourishments to keep your dog healthy and happy. Why? A pumpkin is packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and low calorie. Pumpkin is a healthy source of vitamin A, potassium, and fiber. Pumpkin can provide health benefits for your dog’s digestion, eye, skin, and coat.

There are many ways you can incorporate pumpkin into your dog’s diet like making pumpkin dog treats  or as a supplements. I prefer giving my dog, KORU BEAR, canned pumpkin puree. However during the Fall months, I love making homemade pumpkin puree.

Which One is Better?
Canned or Homemade Dog Pumpkin Puree

1. Color
Our homemade dog pumpkin puree is much lighter in color than the canned pumpkin puree.

2.Texture
The canned pumpkin puree is not as thick as my homemade pumpkin puree. Why? I learned that most commercial pumpkin is made from steamed pureed pumpkin.

Also the variety of pumpkins affect both the color and texture of canned and homemade pumpkin puree.

3. Taste
Our dog tester, KORU BEAR, surprisingly likes both the canned and homemade pumpkin puree.

4.Preparation
It takes time to make a homemade dog pumpkin puree. Depending on the size of the pumpkin, baking time can take about 45-60 minutes, requires kitchen tools and cleaning. For these preparations, many prefer to buy canned pumpkin puree. One main reason is that it is more convenient. Also, canned pumpkin puree is also readily available in any season.

5. Cost
Picking your own pumpkin is fun to do. The cost of a pumpkin depends on the size and where you buy. Our small pumpkin from the pumpkin farm cost $4.50. A canned 100% pumpkin puree can cost about $2.50 (and higher).

When selecting pumpkin puree for your dogs, make sure it is made with 100% pumpkin. There are pet brands that created pumpkin puree for pets. The cost varies and it is much higher than a regular canned pumpkin puree. I’ve used 1) Nummy Tum Tum Pure Pumpkin for Pets and 2) Weruva Puréed Pumpkin. These pumpkin puree are very convenient to have and can ease your dog’s digestion. Both are available on your local pet stores, Chewy and Amazon.  Although pumpkin puree is a good supplement to your dog’s diet, too much isn’t a good thing. Always consult your veterinarian.

Verdict: Canned and Homemade Dog Pumpkin Puree

Dog tester, KORU BEAR prefers both: canned and homemade pumpkin puree. Do you give your dog pumpkin puree?

5 Benefits of CBD Dog Treats | Lazarus Naturals

October 14, 2020
3 Comments

For the past years, CBD dog treats are growing in popularity. Some preliminary evidence shows CBD is beneficial for dogs especially those struggling with any physical or mental conditions.

Lazarus Naturals CBD for Dogs

This post is sponsored by BabbleBox on behalf of Lazarus Naturals. I am being compensated to promote the launch of Lazarus new CBD dog treats, but Golden Woofs only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers.

What is CBD?

CBD or cannabidiol is a compound that can be found in a plant called cannabis or hemp. If you have heard about the plant before, it might be because of the link with marijuana. However, you don’t have to be worried about CBD containing any of those qualities. Certainly, your dog will not get high with CBD intake because it doesn’t contain significant amounts of THC, which is the source of psychoactive energy in marijuana. Your dog will just be in a calm and relaxed mood.

Lazarus Naturals Pet CBD

For the past few days, I’ve been giving KORU BEAR CBD dog treats and CBD Oil Tincture from Lazarus Naturals. Lazarus Naturals believes that CBD has a positive impact on quality of life for both people and their pets. All Lazarus Naturals quality CBD products are made in the USA in Portland, OR.

Benefits of CBD dog Treats

5 Benefits of CBD Dog Treats

Providing your dog with CBD dog treats can help relieve and manage these conditions:
1) Inflammation
2) Nerves & Stress
3) Loss of Appetite
4) Aggression
5) Nausea

Benefits of CBD Dog Treats Lazarus Naturals

1. Inflammation
Since CBD is an anti-inflammatory compound, it can help reduce a dog’s joint swelling and pain. Also, treats for dogs with CBD helps maintain good mobility.

2. Nerves & Stress
Stress doesn’t just affect humans. Our furry best friends can get anxious and stressed out as well, and for several different reasons. Research shows CBD help soothe dogs’ nerves and relieve stress.

Lazarus Naturals CBD Dog Treats – Mobility

It is important to keep KORU BEAR active and healthy. When he turned two, he suddenly stopped jumping. The cause is unknown. Now, he jumps with lots of encouragement. Dog treats with CBD can certainly aid his discomfort. We recently took him to try dog agility again. In the beginning he was hesitant, but overall he did well and went through all the agility equipment.

CBD Dog Treats

Lazarus Naturals CBD Dog Treats – Mobility treats are made with full-spectrum Hemp Extract. KORU BEAR loves the smell as it contains Omega-3 fatty acids from fish collagen and wild Alaskan salmon oil. It is tasty too, as the first ingredient is organic pumpkin. They also contain natural inflammatory, green-lipped mussels. Each dog treat is 5 mg of CBD to keep your good buddy happy and on the move.

How Many CBD Treats Can I Give My Dog?

Lazarus Naturals Mobility CBD dog treatsAlways read the label of the packaging for the proper dosage. The amount varies depending on your dog’s size.

3. Loss of Appetite
Do you have trouble feeding your dog? Changes occurred when KORU BEAR turned two. He became a very picky eater. He is not your typical dog that gets excited when it’s mealtime. I always add supplements to entice him to finish his meal.

4. Aggression
Calming CBD treats for dogs can aid in mood boosting; which could ultimately help minimize aggressive behavior.

Lazarus Naturals offers two Calming Pet CBD Oil Tinctures 1) Natural Flavor and 2) Salmon Flavor. Both of these CBD oil tinctures are made with made with full spectrum hemp extract. To appropriately accommodate the specific needs of every pet, the amount of CBD in this product is lower than their standard tinctures.

Lazarus Naturals Calming CBD Oil

KORU BEAR prefers the CBD Oil Tincture Salmon Flavored. With the fish oil formulation, adding it onto his meal made it tastier. Additional benefits of wild salmon oil as an ingredient: it’s rich in omega-3 and supports the immune system, heart, skin, and coat.

5. Nausea
Did you know that your dog can get nausea, too? Maybe your dog ate something that didn’t sit well with his/her stomach. If you notice a decrease in your dog’s appetite, he or she may be suffering from some level of nausea. Thankfully, there are natural healthy solutions like CBD calming treats for dogs that can help alleviate symptoms.

Lazarus Naturals Sensitive Pet CBD Oil Tincture

This sensitive pet tincture is made with CBD isolate and is THC-free. Perfect for furry friends that might be a bit more particular in their taste and specifically formulated for smaller breeds of dogs.

How Soothing Nature Sounds Can Help Your Dog Sleep

September 7, 2020
4 Comments

Dogs are flexible sleepers but an average dog needs up to 14 hours of sleep a day. For some dogs that experience stress and anxiety may struggle to sleep.

Soothing Nature Sounds Can Help Your Dog Sleep

One effective way to help your dog sleep well is with soothing nature sounds. By playing the sounds of wind rustling trees, birds singing, and water gently trickling, you’ll find your dog will snooze a lot more soundly.

I’ve tried this dog sleep method with KORU BEAR and noticed that soothing nature sounds helped him tremendously to relax and sleep better.

How Soothing Nature Sounds Can Help Your Dog Sleep

How Soothing Nature Sounds Can Help Your Dog Sleep

1) Nature Sounds Lower Stress Levels
Dogs can become stressed by a number of things, including unfamiliar environments, separation, and unpleasant noises. Fortunately, soothing nature sounds can help dog sleep patterns and gently lowering stress levels.

Nature Sounds Can Help Your Dog Sleep

A stress-free dog is guaranteed a better night’s sleep.

2) Nature Makes Consistent Sounds

Nature sounds offer a gentle noise level. The sounds have a consistency that lets your dog know there’s no threat.

3) Nature Sounds are a Pleasant Pitch
Some dogs are sensitive to extreme high pitches. It can be scary too. When leaving the television or radio in the background for your dog to calm down, it is important to choose the right sounds; like playing sounds of nature. These nature sounds exist within a pleasant pitch that helps your dog feel more comfortable, happy, and well-rested.

KORU BEAR loves watching and listening to birds sounds. Birds are very vocal and their chirping and singing represent happiness and safety.

Try playing soothing bird sounds for your dog. Here’s a video: 2 minutes Soothing Bird Sounds to Make Your Dog Sleep

Subscribe to our Golden Woofs YouTube Channel

4) Natural Sounds Have a Restful Tempo

Another theory about how nature sounds can help dog sleep habits is to do with the tempo. Studies showed that fast tempo music such as heavy metal can stimulated a dog’s energy of excitement, fear, and anxiety. While classical music tempo shows a drop in dog’s energy level. Much of classical music was inspired by nature, so the two have a similarly relaxing tempo. If nature sounds for dogs aren’t enough, try combining both; just like our 2 Minutes Soothing Bird Sounds video.

Dogs go through different stages of sleep (depending on age and energy level) but sleep is essential to your dog’s mental and physical well-being. Creating a relaxing environment is important. Playing soothing nature sounds, reassuring sounds of birds, rivers, and gentle breezes can help to make your dog sleep well.

We invite you to put this theory into practice and explore soothing nature sounds for your dog. You might just see a rapid improvement in your dog’s sleeping habits, not to mention their health and overall happiness.
