From Sugar’s mom Rosalyn
We would like to THANK everyone for your Good Thoughts and Prayers.
Sugar did well in her surgery. Her surgeon removed a big mass on her tongue. The mass was located deep in the back of her tongue. We are unsure of how long the mass resided on Sugar’s tongue especially during her annual exam when nothing showed-up. The surgery did not take that long, ~30 minutes, but Sugar had to stay at the vet most of the day. When Sugar left the vet, she wagged her tail to all the staff that took care of her.
Sugar had an appetite to eat when she got home. Sugar has to remain on a soft food diet for a while. We continue to moisten her food with warm ginger water and she loves it.
Of course, after her meal she stood by the banana counter. It’s been a week since she was not allowed to eat a banana in her Kong. I’ve been making Sugar blended creamy banana (like ice cream). She LOVES it and will be sharing the recipe/process on our Tasty Tuesday post.
Sugar’s tongue will be sore for a week or so. She was asked to do lots of resting/napping …
We have wait for a week for some test results and will plan for a treatment.
We are also on alert for another mass.
Very Grateful for all of you…..We are graciously humbled by all the kind words of support and loving thoughts during these difficult events. For now, we are very happy Sugar is home and her surgery went well. Sugar surely sensed all your powerful good wishes and continues to show us to think positive and stay strong.
With all the kind overwhelming comments and emails,
I will try my best to go through them today and provide a response.
For mini updates, I will use our FB Page.
For those not using FB, I always welcome emails.

The girls’ Dad and I continue to keep y’all in our prayers and thoughts. We are so happy to read that Sugar is home and has a good appetite in spite of her sore tongue. And I love that you were able to come up with a recipe for banana ice cream so Sugar can still enjoy her favorite fruit.
Please don’t worry too much about responding to emails…I think all of us here in “Blogville” would understand that taking care of Sugar — and yourselves — is the most important thing for you right now. We all adore Sugar and are hoping and praying for good lab/test results and her speedy recovery. I know you’re a great nurse for Sugar, and a loving Mom. Try not to second-guess yourself about the tumor. Those darn things are so insidious, and can grow so quickly, that there is really no way to know how long it was on her tongue. Unfortunately, as a dog ages, the risk factor of cancer increases. That’s a fact of life. All we can do as pet parents/guardians is be aware of our pets and when something doesn’t seem right, have them checked by a vet. And I know you do that, as I do.
Thanks God Sugar is at home with her loved ones and with the healing energy and love she is receiving. We send you Sugar all our love, light, prayers and visualize you healthy and smiling happy to life and to this blog again !!! We love you Sugar and get well soon!!! Your friends from Mexico City: Norma and my furry sons: Quigon and Windu, and my furry angels: Obi, Paddy and Goldie 🙂
