Today, September 13th is the official release of Cooking For Sugar. To celebrate, I am sharing one of SUGAR’s favorite homemade dog treat: Pumpkin Apple Dog Treats
Pumpkin Apple Dog Treats
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of pumpkin
1/3 cup of apple sauce
1/4 cup of rolled oats
1 tsp chia seeds
Toast rolled oats in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes (optional: sprinkle 1 tsp of honey)
In a bowl, combine the pumpkin, apple sauce, and toasted oats.
Using your hands, roll dough into balls.
Place in freezer for 15 minutes. Store in refrigerator for up to 5 days.

I’m so happy for your cookbook! Best wishes. 🐾🐾❤️
I am always making treats and stew for my dogs. There favorite is chicken jerky and chicken wrapped in apple made in the dehydrator. They love the stews I make for dinner too.
I am going to make the apple pumpkin balls for Schooner and Skipper. Yummy sound good enough for m to eat too!
i used to make home made treats for my 3 gals. i would use turkey bacon, garlic powder, eggs, water, and organic whole grain flour. i have not done this in many yrs though. i still cook but only make steamed veggies, steamed mustard greens, and used to make their entire meals. i would buy 97% lean ground sirloin. sometimes i will cook salmon for them.
You have the best treat recipes, Sugar!
We like that you don’t have to bake them! we are not fans of hard crunchy
hugs
Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel
I haven’t made any treats for my dogs. I would love to try and make some though. The cookbook sounds great and would be fun to use!
I make them peanut butter & pumpkin pupcakes on their birthdays.
What a great book! I’ve never made treats for Melvin but would love to try!!! Congrats!
Congratulations on the publication of your book! Question on the pumpkin apple balls: are the chia seeds added to the bowl with the rest of the ingredients & mixed in with them? (As opposed to,sprinkling them on top of the balls ) thanks!
the chia seeds is optional but you mix it with the pumpkin, apple sauce and oats. thank you, Rosalyn (SUGAR’s mom)
Those look yummy. I don’t do much dog cooking but occasionally make Daisy some homemade frozen yogurt. Congrats on the book
Thank you Sugar for this awesome opportunity to hopefully win this book!
i do sometimes make treats for her! she likes ones with oatmeal and baby food!
I don’t currently make treats for my fubaby, but I would love to make these for her. I know she would love it!
These sound delish! I haven’t made treats for the Lapdogs in a long time, but really need to get back to it! Would love your book!
These look so yummy! I have never made treats for my furbaby but would sure love to! Thanks for sharing
I have not personally made tears for my dogs but I have given them homemade treats that were applesauce and peanut butter.
I don’t make treats as often as I’d like to. But when I do make them, pumpkin is always a favorite. I’ll usually buy some pumpkins in the fall to cook, puree, and freeze for using throughout the season for treats, or even just as a food topper!
My dogs favorite homemade treats are the peanut butter treats.
my dogs love snap peas!
I make treats for her birthday and christmas! She loves the pupcakes (doggie cupcakes!) that I make with apples and carrots in them, and a cream cheese frosting!
yes we make treats for our dogs. coconut, banana and apple blended together and than frozen. They go nuts
I do make them dog biscuits shaped like a bone, and I have made them doggie cakes for their birthdays.
I have “shared” baked chicken with my fur babies. I have cooked green beans for them. I like the recipe above. So simple and few ingredients. It looks so yummy, I might try one for me too!
Right now the treat that I make for the fur-baby’s is the watermelon freezer
treats.I also make them liver treats as well.
I love to make grain free peanut butter treats for my two puppies!
Thank for offering us this giveaway!
I make homemade dog cookies. I think my dogs prefer either my pumpkin or sweet potato treats. I know the boys would prefer meat, though.
Cooking for Sugar book will make great inspirations for all dog parents out there! 😉 I’ve made homemade meals before but no homemade treats yet! We have no oven but we will try to make frozen treats. <3 YUMYUM!
COngratulations on your book. That looks really yummy. I need to get my staff to make me that, so easy and tasty looking!
Oh delicious! I make a 3 cheese cookie for my dogs and they love them. They also love anything with PB.
Thanks for the recipe. My kiddos plan to make these for their Biscuit.
We haven’t made dog treats for our dog, but are planning on trying these. When I was a child I made dog treats for my dog, but it has been a long time.
Their favorite is liver cupcakes with peanut butter cream cheese frosting.
Our collies love a recipe we tried once, it was made with real bacon!
I can’t help but think that humans can eat these too! Looks good enough for my dog kid and me to eat!
