It is unfortunate to know that Golden Retrievers have a high probability of cancer; about 60 percent – one of the highest in the dog world. We are thankful for Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Lifetime Study that started in 2012. This $32 million study gathers information on more than 3,000 golden retrievers throughout their lives to identify the nutritional, environmental, lifestyle and genetic risk factors for cancer and other diseases in dogs.
National Dog Day! Morris Animal Foundation
Golden Retriever Lifetime Study 8th year
In honor of National Dog Day, for the 3rd year in a row, an anonymous Morris Animal Foundation donor who lost her beloved golden retriever, Cody, to cancer, is generously matching all donations made to support the study dollar for dollar, up to $50,000, from August 1 through August 26.

60%… that is a lot…. and we hope so much that this study can help to lower this rate…. hard to imagine all the families who are in tears and in sorrows when they get this horrible diagnosis….
MAF is a great organization! We’ve been donating to them at least once a year – in memory of Callie these last 4 years, and now also in memory of Shadow – since August of 2015. Also in our hearts are your Sugar and Shadow’s littermate, Emma, who passed in 2012.
Love the pictures!!!
Thank you for sharing! I hope to see more updates from you.
