I am Golden Happy to share that I am healthy and in good shape especially I am a senior dog. Last year, I had an adventurous life in HI. I enjoyed the weather and many outdoor activities particularly swimming in the ocean. I’ve lost the weight that my vet recommended for a senior dog. I shared with you that when I left for HI, I weighed 59.2lbs. When I left HI, I weighed 45.5lbs. I lost 13.7lbs. On my last vet visit, I was told that I’m a bit under weight and have a leeway to gain about 5-8lbs. You can’t really tell because of my fur. But I have to be extra careful on rough friendly plays with dad as my body is a bit fragile. Just my body but my exuberant energy has not changed.
This is a follow-up post to my previous post, Tweaking My Beach Body: Knowing Your Dog’s Ideal Weight. If you missed it, click here to read my post.
Now that I am back home not only is the weather different/unpredictable, my options for activities are modified too. I feel good and still have lots of energy. Mom always finds unique ways for me to have enjoyably activities. We shared some of my indoor activities and mall walking was my favorite.
Since the weather is getting better, I’ve enjoyed lots of outdoor activities and we have a new buddy tracking my activities and feeding too. It’s the SlimDoggy app.
We started using it last Friday, March 29th.
The set-up was a breeze and mom uploaded my most current photo from our walk.
The app allows tracking of multiple dogs.
You can easily set-up your dog’s feeding ( i.e. dog foods and treats).
SlimDoggy offers a list of commonly consumed dog foods and treats.
If you don’t find it, you can add/create a custom food and/or treat.
The only downside is you need to know the calorie per serving.
SlimDoggy also tracks my daily activities. It has a list of activities such as walking, running, swimming, dog park, fetch, chase and agility. You can instantly let SlimDoggy track your dog’s activity, which means it calculate the minutes/hours and miles. Another option is to manually add your dog’s daily activity but you need to know the mileage of your dog’s activity.
Unfortunately SlimDoggy app does not allow you to add a custom dog activity. I do lots of zoomies and mom says that is surely an activity that burns calories even though it last only for seconds or minutes. Sharing your dog’s activity can be shared on your facebook and/or twitter account. Only text is posted on your FB wall with link to SlimDoggy site. Hopefully on the next SlimDoggy app upgrade a photo can be attached.
Here’s some screen photos of SlimDoggy app.
Based on SlimDoggy app chart I am underweight. Yes, mom is aware and SlimDoggy comes in handy tweaking my beach body. Tracking my daily activity and having the knowledge of how many calories I burn is very important. Also as you can see, I burn more calories that I am being fed. Mmmm Woof! Woof! More Food and Treats.
My mom believes that it is good to gain weight gradually. My dog food and treat intake stayed the same. I’m very good when I’m full because I’m quiet but when I’m hungry I Woof Woof a lot and do not stop until I’m content. What mom learned is to give my treats in little portions. Like 1 banana will last for the day (1/2 day then 1/2 mid afternoon). Recently mom made some Salmon Carrot Bone Oats which is about 12cal/each. I get to eat 1 or 2 cookies a day. She usually cuts a cookie in half and gives it to me on different times.
Well its been 9 weeks since I got back and guess how much I weigh … 46.1lbs. I gained 0.6lbs.
Question to SlimDoggy app team:
Does it affect previous calculation if weight on the chart was changed?
Mom wishes weight can be changed accordingly without affecting previous calculation.
Also it will be great on the chart to be able to see the weekly and/or monthly weight progress. Since one of the goal is to check/monitor the weight progress of a dog, it’s good if a tracking weight category is added on the app.
SlimDoggy app has been a handy buddy tracking my feeding and activity and will definitely continue to use it. Give SlimDoggy app a try and lots of Golden Thanks to SlimDoggy app team for providing us the app at no cost. We were not compensated by SlimDoggy app team to write this post review.
I will continue to keep you posted on my progress tweaking my beach body.
I will definitely share my favorite outdoor activities and
healthy homemade treats that mom prepares on our Tasty Tuesday post.

You look great to us Sugar!! We just love checking out new apps so we will be sure to have mama look at that one!! We are thinking you must miss swimming in the ocean…
xoxo Chloe and LadyBug
Sugar…You look fantastic! This looks like a great challenge.
Sugar, you are looking fantastic. Glad the App is helping out, those are great questions and feedback for us. I will gather up all of the answers and submit another comment here tomorrow. Thanks and welcome to the Hop!
Sugar you look wonderful and are an inspiration! Looks like you really enjoy all the exercise. Cannot wait to hear more about your stellar beach body!
What a neat app! Thanks fur the review. BTW, we think you look marvelous, Sugar! Happy Friday! xoxo
You are looking absolutely fabulous Sugar…before and after Hawaii! 😉 Wow, it sounds like you get a ton of exercise, even now that you are back! Enjoy all the new (or forgotten) non-Hawaiian activities!! Hm, I think I might see about downloading the app.
You’re looking great Sugar and definitely proof that senior dogs can be every bit as fit and beautiful as younger ones…Your purple socks are so cute, but I’m wondering why you’re still wearing them? Did you hurt a paw that needs to stay covered? Happy Fit Friday!
What a cool app. We hope it helps you become the perfect weight! You look fantastic! Lee and Phod
You look great…and I’m glad we haven’t such an apple thingy :o)
Wow Sugar! I just saw their blog hop, andblog for the first time today! And you certainly did a great job with this! Glad your in your purple booties as well, I can’t get enough of it! Your mom also seems to make some tasty treats, can’t let Kirby see that part, he will just shake his head at my feeble attempts! xoxo leah and kirby
Oh Sugar we are so glad you are doing so well. It is hard to get older but that program sounds like such a good idea. Hope you put that weight back on. We love seeing you so happy. Take care.
Sugar, you’re doing great and looking good!
Piggy kisses,
Katie and Coccolino the mini pig
Wish I was a SLIM DOGGY! Do they have a FAT DOGGY? Oh well, Mom doesn’t have a very Smart Phone anyway. All hers does is make calls.
Sugar looking good! It’s great that you have so much energy. I am making note of this app – thanks for telling us about it!
Looking good Sug…keep it going!
you look wonderful in you photos and i am happy to hear you are having lots of out door fun
You look marvelous. And what wonderful photos of your activities. I love your paw on the smartphone. You are a beautiful senior and it looks like your humans are doing the right stuff to keep you that way. We are a little overweight and Dr. Kate said Mom needs to cut back on the cookies. Maybe we will download slimdoggie
Wow I can’t believe those pictures of how fast you can zoom! I’m glad you are working on getting at the right weight, it’s not easy to tweak the amount of food and the amount of zoomies! Thank you for joining in the FitDog Friday hop.
Peggy’s Pet Place
Good for you and your Mom for keeping track of your weight and health! We are very aware of that in our home too and all the dogs get a measured amount of kibble twice a day and of course a few healthy treats too!
You’re looking great, Sugar! Our vet says that Shadow and I should weigh between 78 and 82 lbs. According to the surgeon who did my knee surgery, I weighed 76.1 lbs when he did the surgery and Mom & Dad thought I looked too thin so Mom’s been giving me a little more food. We don’t get that many treats — too fattening — just one an hour before bedtime. Ducky gets those little Charlee Bear training treats. Mom says if she’s going to give us commercial brand food & treats, they’re at least going to be high-quality ones.
Sounds like a cool app – but you look just fine and can still zoom with the rest of them
Mom and I are in shock! We figured you weighed 50-60 pounds as a golden but you barely weigh more than I do, I am 38 lbs and in good shape. Better to be slightly underweight but I am sure you can gain back those few pounds and be at the right weight and in great health! Have an extra snack on me today 🙂
Looking good, Sugar!
Sugar, you look simply mahvelous!!
It’s hard for most people to lose 13lbs, but you did it and it seemed like it was no sweat! You’re one impressive pup. This looks like a great blog challenge. We may have to participate!
Wow you lost a lot of weight. You look great though but putting on a few pounds is in order. I know mom will help you with that.
Have a woof woof day Sugar. My best to your mom . 🙂
Glad you’ve put on a little weight Sugar! That way there is *more of you* to love!
Your pal, Toby
That app sounds great. Hope you gain a little weight Sugar as you tweak your fabulous beach body. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
I’ve always read that it is very healthy for a dog to be just a tad underweight. It’s certainly easier to add a few pounds than lose a few, that’s for sure!
Morning Sugar OMDs what a wonderful post. Sugar I love watching you run like the wind…..and my beautiful friend I think you need to go shopping for a itty bitty teeny polka dot bikini to show off that lovely beach body.
Hugs madi your BFFF
Ernie has a few pounds that he would GLADLY share with you.
Sugar, you look great! Mom also knows how important keeping our weight down. If I gain even 2 lbs, agility gets harder…
Good news Sugar! The app sounds pretty cool we will check it out. We need to rent your mom so she can make us those tasty treats
Snuggles,
Benny & Lily
Pee s
Did you about the guy that got bit by a shark in Lahaina, Yikes
You look good Sugar! Has mom increased your food or snacks to try and help you gain a little of that weight back?
We are going to have to try it. The vet wants Sammish to lose a few pounds, and it hasn’t been easy!
Sam
Sugar, I just got the SlimDoggy app and I am so excited! I only just got set up today but I am hoping to keep track of all my activities and…eating. I wonder if zoomies could be manually entered as a “Run” and just put the minutes you zoomed. I think you can do that…give it a try. I personally think zoomies should count as exercise!
*Cairn cuddles*
Oz
Cool app! We’ll have to check it out. Riley needs to lose a pound or two, so maybe this will help!
You are one beautiful senior girlie, Sugar!
Love ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
That’s a really cool app Sugar and may I say that you are looking good
I’m gonna have to get that! I think Gracie is fine but I wonder about Henri’s weight.
Looking good Sugar! Woof woof!
Sugar you look lovely! I bet you miss those beach runs – I know we will when it’s time for us to leave. The app looks great, but we have to wait until I upgrade my phone for it to be available to us.
You are lookin’ FABulous Sugar!! I wish I had to gain weight!!! Though, I lost some more weight!! YEA! I am now only about 4-5lbs overweight! Butts, Ma stil isn’t happy, and says I need to loose the remainding…pffft!!!
I know what you mean abouts the calorie count on treaties!! Ma gets so frustrated, cause alot of treaties DON’T list the calorie count on em’. I wish with the obesity problem with doggies, the treat companies would figure this out!
Thanks for the info Sugar!
Kisses,
Ruby
I think you look great Sugar! Just tell your momma to give you extra treats (healthy ones, of course)!
Zoomies are awesome!
your pal,
Garth
Sugar, this is a wonderful PSA for healthy weights for us dogs. We get sad when we see fat dogs. We know one that can hardly move!
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Wow, you lost a lot of weight while you were in HI. It is better to be under than overweight, but I hope you aren’t toooo underweight. It’s good to have leeway to gain a few lbs. Nice to get to eat some extra cookies! Wish I could!
Our Ash needs to lose weight. Maybe she should come stay with you Sugar and you could whoop her into shape!
Looking really good, Sugar. I am trying to get the hang of using the SlimDoggy app so I very much appreciate your photos and you sharing your experiences.
I can’t believe you are actually underweight, Sugar. You look good. The app sounds interesting. But I downloaded one for myself not too long ago and never used it. I doubt I’d use it for Maya and Pierson. It would be good to keep a closer monitor on their weight, though. They are just right at the moment so I’d like to make sure they stay that way.
Sugar, you are looking very good in those photos and are very sweet. (Get the play on words?)
How old are you? Except for your graying snout, you don’t look like a senior dog.
Licks and Rrruffs, BJ Pup
You have a beautiful waist! The boys are too embarrassed to show theirs – yet – but they’re working on hard on it 🙂
Love the action shots Sugar!
Sugar, you are looking great and thanks for the app help tip! We also are curious about the purple shoes?? Maybe a post on that? But they are super cute on ya!!
When it comes to fitness in the world, we need help! In the end, a healthy diet and exercise are what people need. We just need to find a way to convince them all of that.
You lost 13 lbs? Way to go! We want to try the app but it is not out for Android yet. I keep bugging them 🙂
