Recently, KORU BEAR was neutered, and our AAHA veterinarian required him to rest for 14 days, no bath, check the incision twice a day and wear pet color – an Elizabethan collar. Oh no, the Cone of Shame! Surgi Snuggly Wonder Suit to the rescue!

Surgi Snuggly found out that KORU BEAR was getting neutered and they sent their Wonder Suit to provide comfort for his recovery. Golden Woofs only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. This post also contain an affiliate link to Amazon.

5 Tips for Helping Your Dog Heal After Neuter Surgery

1.
It is important to always abide by your veterinarian’s instructions when it comes to post-surgical care. For the safety of your dog, follow your veterinarian required ‘healing period’ of 14 days to avoid any complication that could cause your dog to have a longer restriction time.

2.
Keep your dog restricted. Too much motion and activities might cause the incision site to open up. I was told by KORU BEAR’s vet that excessive movement could result in bleeding and can be very painful.

3.
Keep your dog clean. However, no bath for 10-14 days Why no bath after neuter surgery? It is crucial to keep your dog’s surgical incision dry to prevent any bacteria or infection into the surgical incision. If your dog needs to be cleaned, use a warm washcloth, pet wipes, or dry shampoo.

4.
If your dog enjoys tummy rubs, it is the best way to check your dog’s surgical incision. Watch out for redness, swelling, and discharge. If a dramatic change occurred on the surgical incision, visit your vet.

5.
For your dog to avoid licking and scratching the surgical incision, your vet will recommend an Elizabethan collar (e-collar or cone of shame). For many dogs, it takes time/days to get accustomed using an e-collar, and it can be very uncomfortable. Surgi Snuggly Wonder Suit is a fantastic alternative.

Surgi Snuggly Wonder Suit Alternative to Cone of Shame

Surgi Snuggly started in 2009. Dr. Paul O. Williams DVM along with his wife Tonua realized that their pup Hannah needed an alternative from a cone of shame to recover from her surgery.

“It is my mission to provide meaningful, useful products for you and your pets ensuring your lives together are the fullest, healthiest and happiest!”
– Tonua Williams, CEO Surgi Snuggly

Available at Amazon, Surgi Snuggly is a stretchy recovery wonder suit. It eases pain and assists in healing your dog’s surgical incision. It helps restrict your dog from licking or chewing at the surgical incision.

KORU BEAR Cone of Shame Free

Surgi Snuggly tremendously helped KORU BEAR’s recovery period. He was able to sleep well thus relaxed and happy. The relaxed fit, soft and super stretchy material made it easy to put on the Surgi Snuggly. Watch the video below demonstrated by veterinarian Dr. Williams.

This month Pupbox is educating puppy owners about eating raw. Food and nutrition is always top of mind for many pet parents. Since there are so many choices and opinions on the market, it’s very hard to determine which route to take. One of the most popular dog food trend is incorporating raw meat products.

KORU BEAR is a PupBox Instagram Pup ‘aka CelebriPuppies’ and helping spread the word about their subscription box service for puppies.

What’s in KORU BEAR’s February PupBox?

CORE Freeze Dried Treats – These are 100% meat treats that are fun and convenient way to add raw protein to your dog’s diet. !00% healthy. 100% pure. 100% craveable. These treats are crafted in USA kitchens with only one single ingredient: Meat.

Barkworthies Rabbit Sauage – All-natural dog chew made of high-quality free range rabbit. This chew can be given whole or cut into the perfect size for your pup.

PetQwerks BakBone – This artisan nylon bone is bacon flavored for aggressive chewers. The rich flavor infused nylon bone has tiny treat cells molded on both sides. The flavor cells can be filled with peanut butter, cheese, cream cheese, or any spreadable treat your dog prefers.

Squeakable Crawler – Betsey the Ladybug – This dog toy is fun, flat and little squeakable buggy.

Cycle Dog 3-Play Turtle – This super cute dog toy is a pawfect interactive toy. It combines a tough squeaking head with a treat hiding tummy. This toy also floats and is made of 100% recycled bike inner tubes

ZenPet Tick Tornado Tick Removal Tool – It’s important to keep this little gadget in a safe spot. It could come in handy as ticks are a big problem in most areas.

Eating Raw Q&A

Is Raw Safe?

The major question that often pet parents ask when introducing raw elements into their dog’s diet. Uncooked or undercooked food has a higher risk of food borne illness such as salmonella. To combat this risk, one option is fully frozen or freeze-dried where the risk of contamination and bacteria are cut down.

What are the benefits of Eating Raw?

1) The high heat processing of traditional kibble can reduce the nutrient content. Raw and freeze dried are minimally processed, and it retains essentials nutrients and enzymes.
2) High protein content and fewer filers which makes more palatable for picky eaters.

Types of Raw

There are fully raw formulas, mixed raw and kibble diets, and raw food toppers. Frozen bones are also a good way to incorporate some extra protein and nutrients. Nowadays, many raw options are either fully frozen or freeze-dried to minimize health risk.

All dogs are unique and age, breed, size are major factors when considering the proper diet. It is best to consult your dog’s veterinarian to fully understand the most healthy options for your best furiend.
