Labor Day marks the end of Summer and is one the most celebrated holidays of the year. Many are celebrating by having outdoor family gatherings.
Keep your Dog Safe during Labor Day Festivities.
Labor Day Pet Safety Tips
1) Keep COOL
Know the signs of HEATSTROKE. Take immediate care once your dog suffers from excessive panting and salivation.
SHADE: Make sure you designate a shaded area for your dog.
HYDRATE: Your dog must have access to plenty of fresh drinking water.
SUNBURN: Protect your pet from the dangers of the sun. Only use sunscreen specifically made for dogs.
SPLASH: Supervise your dog while in the pool, lake, or ocean. Keep in mind that not all dogs can swim. Make sure your dog wears a lifejacket even if your dog knows how to swim.
2) Tasty FOOD
HOT GRILL: Keep your dog away from the BBQ grill, during and after cooking as it remains hot.
It is very important to RESIST Your Dog’s Begging Eyes. TABLE SCRAPS are not treats and can be harmful to a dog’s weight and overall health. Remind all your guests not to feed your dog.
Keep ALCOHOL beverages in a safe place, out of your dog’s paw reach. Alcohol poisoning puts lethal dangers to a dog.
Make REFRESHING TASTY Dog TREATS:
Red White and Blue Icy Treats
Watermelon Summer Fruit
Watermelon Blueberry Star Popsicle
Watermelon Pops
Ice Cream: Banana Peanut Butter
Ice Cream: Banana Blueberry
3) TRAVEL Plans
HOT CAR: Never leave your dog in the car.
BUCKLE UP: Make sure your dog is securely safe
TAGS: At all times, your dog must wear a collar and tags with current contact information. Take extra precautions and keep your dog safe from being lost.

Excellent tips! For the past 10 years, Labor Day weekend has marked my oldest daughter’s birthday. It will be next Wednesday this year, but it makes it even more fun. I love that photo of you with the picnic basket Sugar!!!
Great tips, Sugar! And thanks for mentioning buckling up. We met some new Frenchies who are going on a trip this Labor Day and they are all buckling up for safety. Mom and dad also have plans for them to stay cool because you know Frenchies don’t do too well in the heat.
Great tips for a safe holiday. Enjoy some fun this Labor Day Weekend! ☺
All excellent tips, Sugar!! One my hubby DEFINITELY needs to learn, remember, and stick to is “Table scraps are NOT treats”!! I was brought up in a house where the dogs were not allowed to beg at the table and we kids were not allowed to feed the dog ANY people food until we had all finished our meals. Then, and only then, were the dogs allowed to lick the plates before they were put in the dishwasher. Now, due to Shadow’s sensitive stomach, I have to insist that no one give them ANY people food. If I have to, I will put the dogs in another room while we prepare and eat our meals.
Great tips!
