Dogs and Pumpkin
On previous post we shared the 4 Benefits of Pumpkin for Dogs: Fiber, Moisture, Beta-Carotene and Low-Fat Treat.
This time of the year, I make lots of homemade dog-safe Pumpkin Puree. Fall is the time of the year, when Sugar’s allergies flare up and it affects her tummy. Adding 1-2 teaspoons of pumpkin puree in Sugar’s food eases her digestion. Pumpkin puree has been the pawfect-cure for Sugar’s digestive needs.
Make Your Own Dog Safe Pumpkin Puree
Dog-Safe Pumpkin Puree
1) Wash and clean the pumpkin
2) Prepare to roast the pumpkin – Optional: drizzle coconut oil on the pumpkin and sprinkle turmeric.
3) Roast the Pumpkin at 375- Check our previous post: How to Roast A Pumpkin
4) After scooping out the roasted pumpkin, use a blender (food processor) to puree until smooth.
Simple and easy to make. You can serve the pumpkin puree as a treat or add it on your dog’s food. You can also use it to make some delicious pumpkin dog treats.

Our crew love pumpkin, Mom bakes lots of pumpkin treats. Princess Lily gets pumpkin every day with her breakfast. Our Ashley girl who has gone to Rainbow Bridge, had kidney failure for the last 3 years of her life and pumpkin was her favorite treat. It also freezes very well!

We have two pumpkins as fall decorations, and I plan to cook them soon, and I will definitely make some puree too. We’ve added canned pumpkin to Luke’s food to help his digestion, and it really does. I can only imagine that fresh pumpkin will be even better!
Sugar your mom is a genius! What fun ways to enjoy pumpkin!
